Venthali A XI faced Strikers CC in the semi final of the 13th Challengers Cup at Asghar Ali Shah Stadium.
Venthali batted first and Rabish(19) and Rehan(11) were watchful in the early exchanges. Abdullah removed Rehan sooner than expected and Haris Tanweer was introduced by the captain from the other end. Everyone present at the ground soon realised it was going to be Haris' day as he bowled marvelously to first account for the set Rabish and followed it up by removing the entire middle order of the Venthali team as none of the batsmen had any answers to the questions posed by Haris. He ended up picking 5 wickets conceding only 22 in his 4 overs to leave Venthali all out for 111.
A straight forward chase was expected and a straight forward chase is what it turned out to be. Opener Waqar(9) was the only one to miss out as he fell early to Imran. Saad Shah and Yasir Tanveer got together and made light work of the chase, picking up the singles and scoring boundaries at will. Saad got out for a well made 71 off only 47 balls while Yasir was there at the end on 25 to see his team through to the final with 8 wickets in hand.
