Unity Tex beat Civil Aviation Authority in a match of the 32nd Challengers Corporate Cup.
Batting first, Unity Tex’s openers stabilized the team from the beginning by posting a steady flow of runs on the board. Maaz Ismail scored 34 off 25 balls while Haider Ali Bangash scored 27 off 23 balls. Although a few wickets were lost in the middle, Suleman Saleem’s 35 off 26 and Farhan Maxii’s quickfire 54 off just 29 balls helped the team amass a total of 184 runs. CAA’s leading wicket taker was Umar Riaz, who bagged 2 wickets.
CAA’s batting innings were off to a rough start as they lost their opener for a golden duck. Nadeem Badar scored 18 off 14 balls to offer some resistance while Muhammad Zaid made 22 off 25 balls. Middle order batsman Umar Riaz smashed a fierce 86 off only 44 balls. Despite his important knock, the tail-end could not chase down the target, only managing to score 171 runs. Unity Tex’s Afnan Khan, Umer Farooq and Rehman Ghani picked up 2 wickets each.
