In a Group A encounter of the 17th Challengers Cup, played at the Eastern Star Ground, Zamzam Sports took on the Rising Stars CC, in a match that went right down to the wire.
After electing to bat first, Zamzam Sports were off to a positive start with both openers striking the ball cleanly. Shiraz Raza was the main contributor, scoring 20 runs in 17 balls with 3 boundaries. With the runs flowing, the middle order batted well with Mahmood Ali scoring 26 runs in 21 balls (2 fours and a six). Shahid Mukhtar ended the innings on a high with a quick 14 ball cameo of 23 runs to guide his team to a decent score of 131 runs. The Rising Stars CC bowlers bowled well with Hamza Mehmood and Zeeshan Fattani taking 2 wickets each.
The Rising Stars CC began their chase in a similar fashion to their opponents with both openers timing the ball well. Adeel Rizvi set the momentum for his team with a responsible 21 runs in 18 balls, with 2 fours and a six to his name. Middle order batsman Danish Fattani then continued the run scoring with 32 runs to bring his team within sights of victory. However, the Zamzam Sports bowlers fought back into the game, with Aamir Bangesh and Asif Usman taking 2 wickets each, thereby restricting the Stars to 128 runs at the end of 20 overs.
Zamzam Sports won the match by 3 runs.
